Astronomers say that they may have spotted a second earth being created aproximately 424 light years away from our own. Nasa has used one of it’s space telescopes and has seen a warm dust belt revolving around a star that is only slightly larger than our own sun, they say that they believe that the dust cloud may be clumping together to form this second earth. They claim that the dust belt is located in the middle of the star systems inhabitable zone and at around 10,000,000 years old it is about the right age for it to start forming a rocky planet. I have a few questions to ask of this so called “second Earth” first of all how can a scientist judge the age of a dust cloud 424 light years away? second of all how can they tell that that is the inhabitable zone of that star system? once again it is 424 LIGHT YEARS!!! away. Just for the record a light year is the distance that a ray of light would travel in one year, this system being that far away we would never actually be able to reach it due to scientific laws that place hinderances on how fast an object may travel. I would like to open this post up to peoples opinions on this “second earth”.David
